The Department of Anaesthetia, Analgesia & Intensive Care Medicine of BSMMU has been selected as an overseas center for European Diploma in Anaesthetia & Intensive care Medicine (EDAIC) examination.
From 2021, Bangladeshi doctors will no longer have to travel abroad to take part in the first phase of this prestigious postgraduate examination.
Due to the sincere efforts of the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia, Analgesia and Intensive Care Medicine, Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman, Bangladesh was considered for the first time to conduct such a world-renowned degree examination on November 9.
Undoubtedly a matter of pride for the doctors of Bangladesh and a wonderful opportunity for the doctors interested in pursuing a career in Anesthesia and Intensive Care.
European Diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine (EDAIC) is an international standardized test for anesthetists recognized in many countries around the world, including Europe. EDAIC is considered to be one of the most prestigious degrees to pursue a career in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. It is easier to get a job as a consultant in countries like Europe and the Middle East, especially if the EDAIC is completed. Idiac first part exams can be taken after completing the internship. Also multiple times this test can be given and no separate training is required. Physicians with a postgraduate degree in anesthesia will be able to participate in the test in addition to their job. PLAB of Bangladeshi anesthesia specialists will not be required to practice in the UK if they have GMC registration as well as EDAIC.
European Diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine has worldwide overseas examination centers. Although there are 4 centers in neighboring India, due to high demand, Bangladeshi candidates have to go to Indonesia or Middle Eastern centers to take the exam. Having this test center in Bangladesh will make it easier for Bangladeshi doctors to sit for the test and save money as they do not have to go abroad. The first round of exams will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 and online registration will start from March.
